On the Streets of KL

my mom and i walked through jalan masjid india today (and its counter parts) in search for good looking fabrics for baju raya..since we were in the area, we decided to drop by the PAM office to hand in the arch-inquiry claim..

kl being kl, public transport is usually a walk away from wherever you need to go (with the exception of klcc and ampang park ofcourse)..especially in this case, we were headed to jalan tangsi which is located in the middle of nowhere (seriously)..

so we walked all the way from masjid jamek lrt station to dataran merdeka, then cut through the royal selangor club to end up on jalan kinabalu (i think..)..as we arrived in front of the Kuala Lumpur Memorial Library (which was gorgeous-ly reanimated), there was a saviour to my right..

there we found a new and improved public toilet facility..i had to pay 20 cents to enter, but i honestly would have paid RM1 if i had to..not just because i really had to go, but it was a public toilet to be proud of..operating under one of those "urban-tropical-open-toilets" concept, it was really comfortable and clean..a big two thums up to KL..

as our adventure continues, my mom and i had to walk a little further down Selangor Club (back towards the direction we came from because we kinda got lost) then turn left and cross under a fly-over to get to the PAM head-quarters..there, right before we went under the fly-over, we met a creepy malay man walking towards our direction..

he was obviously a drug addict; high and unstable, gripping a knife with a red handle in his right hand..i was too blur to realize what was going on (just to freakin cross the road is a walk of death in kl!) but my mom had already began directing me away..

luckily for us (hehe..but pity them though), there was a mat salleh couple walking slightly ahead of us on our right..i guess the addict felt he could get more by harassing tourists so he adjusted his bearings and headed straight for the mat salleh guy calling "hey, brother!"..they were also quite quick to react, the lady had made a wide detour and the guy took it upon himself to fend the guy off casually..

we were all very very lucky that the creepy guy (maybe feeling a little threatened somehow) probably doubted himself and decided to walk away..my mom, utterly freaked out, dragged me through under the fly-over and persisted we should just call a cab back home as soon as we're done at PAM..

so we did..

that was my KL adventure for today..although dramatic and tiring, at least we got a lot done..KL is quite a circus when it comes down to it..but within this circus, there's so many wonderful things hiding behind its old walls and bustling vehicles..i love it so much, and i hate it at times too..a love-hate relationship; so extremely addictive :-)

Are You Ready for the Next Chapter?

i must admit, i'm no modern disney supporter..all these "hannah montana, camp rock and high school musical-s" are driving me crazy..i have reasons to believe that they poison the minds of todays youth..yup yup yup..

but recently, i've become a victim of this disaster..as much as i want to deny it..i am a fan of a greatly inspiring song (dammit!)...

at the end of these 4 years of utter slogging, there's much to complain and go on about..there were many lessons, many realizations, and sadly many disappointments..it is that damned hard alright..now, emotionally, physically and socially battered, a song sings my exact feelings on the radio..and i just can't help but sing-a-long..

i can almost see it, that dream i'm dreaming
but there's a voice inside my head saying you'll never reach it.
every step i'm taking, every move i make feels lost with no direction
my faith is shaking but...

i, i have to be strong
got to keep my head held high.

there's always gonna be another mountain
i'm always gonna wanna make it move
always gonna be an uphill battle
sometimes i'm gonna have to lose.
it's not about how fast i get there
not about what's waiting on the other side
it's the climb.

the struggles i faced, the chances i take,
sometimes had knocked me down
but no, i'm not breaking.
i may not like it,
but these are the moments i'm going to remember most.
i must keep going

and i, i have to be strong
just keep pushing on, cause

there's always gonna be another mountain
i'm always gonna wanna make it move
always gonna be an uphill battle
sometimes i'm gonna have to lose.
it's not about how fast i get there
not about what's waiting on the other side
it's the climb.

so climb...

that's right, these are lyrics to The Climb by Miley Cyrus..but i altered it a little to exaggerate my emotional connection..hahaha!..but personally, i think it's a really good song..

COMPLETE Awareness Day, "Save the Palestinians"

Palestinian Awareness Day Organised by C.O.M.P.L.E.T.E

The main objective of the campaign is to further educate/clarify/enlighten the general public on the actual situation in Gaza and why this issue is an international one.

The war in Gaza is not a religious issue and should not just be viewed as one as the oppression is a humanitarian issue.

People are left injured, dying and rotting in Gaza with no basic human necessities like water, food, electricity, medication and such with miniscule hope of receiving any through its borders or even getting out.

Gaza is an open air prison of war refugees, tortured and abandoned, retaliating only through sheer desperation.

Now, they are punished for practicing their right for democracy.

Help sympathise with this already fragile country by attending the exhibition this Sunday, 18th of January 2009. Maybe with more knowledge and understanding on the matter we could better ourselves in expressing opinions on the matter and ultimately just be more informed on this crucial humanitarian outrage.

It is our responsibility to educate ourselves, in order to protect ourselves.

bye-bye tortured soul...

i suddenly feel a rush of emotions..

i've come to realize that i can be quite the mengarut most of the time..

i've always considered myself awkward, weird, a little off centre and definitely a sore thumb sticking out beside everyone around me..but maybe it's just me who makes me awkward you know..hmm..im talking gibberish again..

it's official, i'm extending an additional semester due to some unforeseen and totally unexpected circumstances..i'm very sad about it ofcourse, but i've come to terms with the fact that this is the best thing to do lah in order to save my cgpa..haih..how depressing..

it's not more on the extending part you know..i actually really don't care much..it's just that i made plans to be on holiday that coming 6 months to sooth my over-worked soul..and i had so many things i wanted to do..now all that is just a distant dream that may or may not come true, depending on how heavy the 3 subjects would be..

yeah, i decided to push 3 subjects due to 1 slip up..the 1 is equivalent to 3 studying subjects since time is the biggest issue in an architecture students forsaken life..*big sigh..

but ultimately, i'm really affected by the fact that i won't be attending the same convocation as my fellow classmates..it's suppose to be a memorable once in a life time experience thing together right, and basically that's out the window now..*bigger sigh..

most of all, i feel like a hollow depth is being drilled through my tortured soul when i think about parting with the friends i recently made..it's so ironic, but although knowing them for just months, i feel as though i've known them forever..it's like all this while feeling so misplaced and awkward, i finally found a place for me to fit in and soon i have to move again..they may not feel the same way, heck they may not even get me but that doesn't really matter to me though..when i'm spending time with these few people i feel like i'm back home again..at least i feel like i can understand them..

all this boils back down to me, always creating awkwardness in perfectly un-awkward situations..when there are people who seem sincere in being friends i start getting weird about it, but when there's an obvious "udang di sebalik batu" thing going on i'm so freakin oblivious to it..haha..i guess i am weird..like in a stupid way..*biggest sigh..

well, this is me..going through my emo motions again..i'm yawning now which obviously means i'm sleepy..i've been freakin having nightmares lately..it's so so tiring..i just pray that God will help calm my tormented soul..until that day comes....

alia is searching for the balance between.....

branding my mind - brand in my mine

thanks to miss Syazato! i am so extremely into online shopping right now..hehehehehehe...

it's so convenient, sites can be so detailed about what they're selling that u know almost exactly what u're getting and this makes a trip to the mall so menyusahkan..haha..u may or may not get what u're looking for..but online, u can look until u get what u want n it will eventually be sent to ur door step..hehe..haih...

going through all this information reinforces my want to start my own thing..i'm just really not sure about the risk behind investing my time n money in starting a business..i've been thinking about this for so long it's crazy..but i know that deep down inside, this little side project will make me very happy :)..hehe..

well now i'm in the 'planning-n-writing-a-business-plan' process..will hopefully be able to really kick things off when i graduate next year n take 6-12months off..hahaha..seriously man..i need investors (like my brother n parents, hehehe) that can provide me with sufficient "modal" on top of what ever i'm putting a side myself..in order to do that, i need to produce a killer business plan (something my brother mewajibkan me do) if i even dream of getting anywhere near doing this..i don't even know how to begin to do it..but that shouldn't stop me from trying right..hehehe..

one really huge problem though..i have to be realistic in life right, i definitely don't have the balls (ofcourse i don't, i'm a woman..hahahaha) to drop everything i'm doing n what ever courier plan i have for my future just to feed my need for self-satisfaction..i would love if i could juggle my current pre-planned architecture courier with my obsession in creating my own brand..thing is, i really don't know if that's a good idea..entahlah..am i capable enough to not get distracted by one to screw up the other?..it's scary..

well right now, i really do wanna try anyway..?? gosh..i hope n pray that this is the right decision..hehe..go go aliebarley!
